How to Install Ubuntu Cleaner on Ubuntu LTS and clean obsolate packages!







    Ubuntu cleaner is a useful utility software for ubuntu operating system. It is a free, open source and easy to use application. It helps to remove junk files, old kernels, apt caches, browser caches, application caches, old unused application packages manually. So, it can be helpful to free up some disk space on Ubuntu operating system.

This article describes about the installation process of Ubuntu Cleaner on Ubuntu LTS Focal Fossa.



Step  - 1 : Launch Ubuntu Terminal 

Ctrl + Alt + T


Step - 2 : Log in as Superuser

sudo su

Enter system password


Step -  3 : Install Software Properties


sudo apt install software-properties-common


Step - 4 : Add Ubuntu Repository

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gerardpuig/ppa


Step - 5 : Update System

apt-get update


Step - 6 : Install Ubuntu Cleaner


sudo apt install ubuntu-cleaner



Launch Ubuntu cleaner from Application Menu




Note - It is available to install on all the latest Ubuntu operating systems. If above command doesn't work then apply the below process.



For Unsupported Ubuntu versions


Step - 1 : Download the latest .deb file for Ubuntu Cleaner

wget https://launchpad.net/~gerardpuig/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+files/ubuntu-cleaner_1.0.4-1_all.deb


Step - 2 : Install Ubuntu Cleaner


sudo apt install ./ubuntu-cleaner_1.0.4-1_all.deb


rm ubuntu-cleaner_1.0.4-1_all.deb


Launch Ubuntu cleaner from Application Menu
