How to Create Bootable USB Drive in Ubuntu LTS!





      
     Generally we use CD / DVD to flash operating systems to our PCs. But when we face hardware compatibility issues while flashing i.e. no DVD drive in laptops, then we are forced to use USB drive for flashing an operating system. Creating a USB Drive ready for booting and using it seems more easier than CD/DVD these days. This article describes the process of creating a bootable USB Drive on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.

This task requires an application software to convert a normal USB stick to a bootable one. So, we are going to use an application called balenaEtcher. It is a free and open source application and available for Ubuntu, Windows and Mac OS.


Step - 1 : Install balenaEtcher

To install balenaEtcher on Ubuntu click here



Step - 2 : Launch the application from application menu




Step - 3 : Insert USB stick in PC and it will automatically select target




Step - 4 : Select desired .iso file basically the previously stored operating system.





Step - 5 : Click on Flash! option





Step - 6 : Now it should start flashing





Step - 7 : After completed flashing it will start validating




Step - 8 : After validating it will comes with success message!




Now your USB drive is ready to boot!
