How to Install Avro Phonetics in Ubuntu 18.04 for Bengali Typing!
Avro keyboard is a free and open source software developed by Omicronlab for bengali typing. It is available on Windows operating system as well as Ubuntu, other flavours of Linux and Mac OS.
To install Avro phonetics in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver) you have to perform all the listed steps below.
Let's Start!
Step - 1 : Go to 'Settings' and then select 'Region & Language'.
Step - 2 : Click on the 'Manage Installed Languages' .
Step - 3 : Click on 'Install / Remove Languages' and select 'Bangla' from the list. Next Click on 'Apply' button.
Step - 4 : Open the 'Terminal' (Press Ctrl + Alt + T )
Step - 5 : Login as Superuser -
sudo su
Next, enter the system password.
Step - 6 : Install Avro -
Run the following commands in terminal.
wget "https://github.com/ugcoder/avro/releases/download/v2.0/avro_2.0-1_all.deb"
sudo dpkg -i avro_2.0-1_all.deb
If there any dependency error occurs then also run the following command.
sudo apt-get install -fy
Step - 7 : Go to 'Settings', click on '
Region & Language' >
'Manage Installed Languages'.
Look for 'Keyboard input method system', select 'ibus' from the dropdown and close the window.Step - 8 : Restart Ibus -
ibus restart
Step - 9 : Go to 'System settings' then click on "+" icon then select "Bangla" and select 'Bengali (Avro Phonetics)' as a input source.
Enjoy Bengali typing in Ubuntu 18.04.

I am trying this , but while using command 'ibus restart' , it shows cannot connect to ibus.... and the process is not complete.
ReplyDelete"ibus restart" will only reset the internal state of ibus, so it doesn't work if ibus daemon is not running. you can apply the mentioned command below to correct this error.
Deleteibus-daemon &
