How to Fix touchpad problem on ubuntu 18.04 / 18.10!
In Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver) or its higher version Ubuntu 18.10 (Cosmic Cuttlefish) many users are facing a problem which is about the touchpad on laptops. Their touchpads on their laptops aren't working, it became unresponsive but after connecting a mouse the cursor is working fine. It is actually not a defective touchpad its an error. Here is the solution regarding this problem given below ...
1. Configuring the grub
sudo nano/etc/default/grub
Enter system password
And replace
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"
With
RUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="i8042.reset quiet splash"
Save the file (Press Ctrl + X) and run
sudo update-grub
Now restart the system. And your touchpad will working fine!

I have tried the same, but it's not working on my Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. I am using Lenovo Ideapad130. Plz help
ReplyDeleteIs your touchpad working fine on Windows? Did you restarted your system after applying the commands in Ubuntu?
DeleteYou may try another trick for your Lenovo Ideapad 130.
Delete1. Install UKUU by using the below commands...
sudo apt-add-repository -y ppa:teejee2008/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install ukuu
2. Start UKUU using GUI or by running "ukuu-gtk" in terminal.
3. Choose the latest 4.19 kernel there and press install.
4. Reboot the system.
