How to Create Bootable Pendrive in Ubuntu!








       Generally we use disks like CD/DVD to boot a new operating system such as Windows or Ubuntu, but sometimes we are forced to perform an installation by using a pen-drive. When we want to install an operating system in a laptop which is a mini laptop then most of the cases we found that there is no DVD drive in which we can insert a disk, it is the time where we have to use a pen-drive for booting and installing the system software. We may also have a desktop computer which has a faulty DVD drive then we have to use a pen-drive to boot. Also sometimes computers refuse to boot from CD/DVD due to some internal errors then we have to use a pen-drive for booting. 

Here in this article, we are going to learn about creating bootable pen-drive. We have already discussed about How to Create Bootable Pendrive in Windows? Now in this article we are going to discuss about the process of creating bootable pendrive in Ubuntu computer. It can be done easily in Ubuntu operating system. Here, the application software called Startup Disk Creator has been used to convert a normal pen-drive to a bootable one. This software generally comes preinstalled in Ubuntu operating systems.

Process of creating a bootable pen-drive described step by step below.

Step - 1 : Download the ISO file of the desired operating system. 

Step - 2 : Open Menu / App. drawer and in the search bar type 'Startup Disk Creator'. It will search the application. If there is no application installed check here how to install




Step - 3 : Now click on the application icon to launch the application




Step - 4 : Now click on Other... option to select the previously downloaded ISO file of the operating system. And choose the ISO file.




Step - 5 : Now Insert the USB drive to write the ISO file in it. and it will automatically selected by the application in the Disk to use section.




Step - 6 : Now click on Make Startup Disk button and it will start the process. After completing the process it will pop-up a confirmation window.


Now your bootable USB stick is completely ready to use.
