How to Install TheBrain software in Ubuntu 19.04!




      TheBrain is a personal knowledge base and mind mapping software. It is developed by TheBrain Technologies. It is a cross-platform software available in Windows, Unix and Mac OS. It uses a dynamic graphical interface which maps hierarchical and network relationships. It also includes the ability to add links to Web pages,notes, files, and events using a built-in calendar. The Actual concept of mind mapping software is to create a diagram or visualization using concept and ideas.

Here, in this article, the title represents that we have discussed about the installation of TheBrain software. Follow the steps below : 

Step - 1 : Download TheBrain software for Windows from here.

Step - 2 : Open PlayOnLinux to run the application.

It is a windows application which contains the extension of .exe. So, it will not run directly in Ubuntu. We have to run it via PlayOnLinux application. To know about the installation of PlayOnLinux check here




Step - 3 : Click on + install button.




Step  - 4 : It will open a database window of listed software. But we have to click install a non-listed application as we want to install the previously downloaded application.



Step - 5 : It will open an information window, click on Next.



Step - 6 : It will open a manual installation window. Click on Next.



Step - 7 : Select install a program in a new virtual drive and click Next.


Step - 8 : Type a name for application's virtual drive i.e. TheBrain and click on Next.




Step - 9 : Click the check box contains configure wine and click on Next button.




Step - 10 : Select the virtual drive specification 32bit / 64 bit. Click on Next button.



Step - 11 : It will ask for Wine Mono Installer to download and install. Click on Install button.


Step - 12 : After Installing it will ask for Wine Gecko Installer to download and install. click on install button.



Step - 13 : It will open the Wine configuration Window. Where we have to select the windows version i.e. Windows 10 / 7/8/. then Click on Apply and then OK button.



 Step - 14 : Next, it will ask to select the application.

Click on Browse option to navigate to the .exe file and then Click Next.



Step - 15 : It will Run the Application installer. Select the check box and click on Install button



Step - 16 : It will successfully complete the installation.



Step - 17 : The select the application name i.e. TheBrain to create a shortcut on PlayOnLinux to run it in future. and Click on Next.

  1. Looks good but how do to run TheBrain? No icon appeared, its not in the program list and choosing Run on PlayOnLinux does not work.
